Soul Talk Time Morality
“Be fast when it makes sense to be fast, and be slow when slowness is called for. Seek to live at what musicians call the tempo gusto---the right speed.” These words are from In Praise of Slowness, Carl Honore.
My “speed” the past couple weeks hasn’t seemed to follow the guideline of what “is called for” or when it “makes sense to.” What has caught my attention is a new awareness and appreciation for the value of living my life at a pace which is ‘in balance’ and a responsive tempo to experiences as they arrive and move on through the hours, days, etc.
My ‘time’ is mine and I experience it as ‘free’ or ‘not-free’, as the case may be. I have come to believe that there is a profound, deep morality in how I spend time….whether overloaded, fast-paced or more slowly, perceptive and fully present and compassionate in the “now”.
Although my ‘speed/pace’ has seemed to be determined by ‘pain’ since my knee replacement, I’ve been challenged to recognize that there just may be a ‘right speed’….to be discovered moment by moment….IF I’M AWAKE.
